Delayed message updates on Yahoo site?

Hello, all.

This is a quick message just to check on any
possible delay at Yahoo in updating current
messages. In elinks, I've noticed that the
latest message has been #10557 for over 24
hours, which seems very unlikely given the
usual level of activity. After trying a
number of refreshes last night and just
now, I finally got the "Group Temporarily
Unavailable" screen.

Dave Keenan, I'm wondering if this kind
of problem was why I wasn't aware of your
posts about the 7:9:11 question that Mike
and I were discussing when I wrote and
posted a reply in that thread, only learning
of them later. I mentioned this in the
belated reply I did make, and such situations
do bother me a bit, not from impatience but
from concerns about any misimpressions that
I or others experiencing this technical
problem are ignoring very relevant posts
rather than simply not receiving them in
a timely fashion.

I'm not sure if shifting from Web only to
Digest mode would help with this, or whether
the delay affects both about the same.

And while this is Yahoo's problem -- unless
it's some weird browser incompatibility on
my end (sometimes I get strange screens
saying "Aren't you supposed to be somewhere
else?" when trying to follow a link to read
a specific post in a tuning group) -- I'm
glad that our able and gracious moderator,
Mike Battaglia, is there to help us deal
with this as best we can.

Thank you, Mike, for your courtesy and
spirit of service.

Best,

Margo

Actually I meant #105557 -- to suggest that
the updating might be getting delayed by a
day or two rather than 12 years!

But, I did notice just now that my new post
I'm correcting on this point got numbered
#105558, as if there hadn't been any activity
here in over 24 hours, which seems unlikely
to me.

Best,

Margo

There's nothing in the spam filter. Yahoo will periodically do this
sort of thing, though - sometimes the group search will not work as
well. If Yahoo dropped messages, then I have no way of knowing. I know
that I haven't responded to your message yet, I have about a 3/4 reply
finished that I want to send off soon. As far as I can tell, we just
had a two-day dropoff.

If the Group Temporarily Unavailable thing persists and becomes a
problem, please let me know and I'll contact Yahoo! about it. As of
now, I expect it was just a transient server hiccup.

I noticed Dave's reply when it came up, but every so often it does
happen for Yahoo to misfire and send a post a few days later. There's
not much that we can do about it, unfortunately, short of moving the
list. Thankfully, such occurrences seem to be rare.
