More Hovhaness...

In answer to Kraig... YES. From what I have heard Hovhaness is the
ULTIMATE night composer. He starts about 9PM, maybe later, and works
all night. He gets wilder and wilder in his conceptions as the morning
hours arrive... practically hallucinating. I'm serious about this.
Joan Miro tried a similar "technique," of course, with his painting...
sleep deprivation.

I had not heard this. As far as I know, Hovhaness is still alive; he turned
89 in March. I haven't heard much of his work that is more recent than the
Mt. St Helens symphony. He is Composer in Residence at the Seattle Symphony.
Does anyone know if there is a MIDI file of his
"Prayer of St. Gregory?" That would be an interesting piece for alternate
tunings.
