MicroFest Concert Sunday May 6 Claremont California

The next MicroFest concert is this Sunday May 6 8:00 pm in Claremont California. You can find directions and excerpts from the pieces to be performed here: http://www.microfest.org/microfest20125.html

The program will include Enno Poppe's Rad for microtonal keyboards. He says: "The typololgy of the scales includes: -tempered scales with steps ranging from 1,66 to 0,1 semitones, including scales that have no octaves, like the one based on 0,96 semitones; -scales with identical differences in frequency that grow closer together as they move upwards (spectral sections) -sequences of chords -combinations of various scales such that several notes are assigned to each key (...)" Vicki Ray and Aron Kallay will be performing.

Also on the program, Lou Harrison's Gending Demeter for gamelan and A Cornish Lancaran for saxophone and gamelan.

Finally, Susan Jensen will be the soloist in my own Concerto for Violin and American Gamelan.

The concert is free! So please come by if you're in the area.

Dang, if I had known about this a few weeks ago I might have arranged a trip!

Oh well. Maybe I'll still go if I find some ridiculously cheap airfare or something.
