Igs just released this:

This sounds like it's going to be unbelievably epic.

It's amazing how close Igs can get toward the edge of "instability" (so far as average tensity and consistency of mood)...without falling over into a feeling of chaos.    The section at 1:29 in the sample is simply awesome...soundtrack-esque but, at the same time, not just a hazy blur of technical complexity, but full of memorable motifs.  The song sample starting at 2:00 was about the only part I didn't like...the rest sounds anywhere from good to amazing.

Igs (on his album page on bandcamp)>"Though the tunings are a central focus of the album, this is music that
can be appreciated by the most casual of listeners, further proving that
theoretical dissonance is no deterrent to writing accessible music."

On the plus side, the use of phrasing and mood in this album is awesome: and I can tell the intended moods pretty clearly.
On the other hand, unlike the last Igs album "Open Space", I can't imagine introducing an Average-Joe listener to this...since many of the chords tempt the ear (at least mine) to simply compare the chords to the nearest 12TET chord and say "wow that...detuning/distorted/etc...like listening to a good record on a terrible quality sound system with interference".  I am guessing trying to drive a car while listening to it would also not be a good idea...a good chunk of concentration is required to "decode" it.

So it's good for its own sake and certainly (like Igs says) "non-academic"...but I wouldn't expect people to understand it.

"Open Space" has 14 Facebook likes...we'll see how this new album does.
