Yes, get these two books:

"Flutecraft: An Artisan's Guide to Bamboo Flutemaking" by Mark Shepard
-- lots of useful rules of thumb for flutemakers.
(available from http://www.shakuhachi.com/CM-Shepard-FC.html)

"Air Columns & Tone Holes: Principles for Wind Instrument Design" by Bart Hopkin
-- lots of useful math and physics info. for woodwind instrument makers.
(available from: http://www.windworld.com/emi/)
(also available from http://www.shakuhachi.com/CM-Hopkin-ACTH.html --
but make sure you get the new edition if you order from here)

Also, I wrote a program called FluteCalc to help with tone hole size
and placement calculations (based on Hopkin's book and also on
"Fundamentals of Musical Acoustics" by Arthur H. Benade) it's available
for free with source code from:
http://cjchapm.home.mindspring.com/fltclc.zip

Here's my music page, now that I've already duplicated most of the
relevant info. in this email. :-)
There is even a photo of some of the flutes I've made that you can get
to from this page:
