Goodbye, Everybody

Well gang, it's been "fun", but in the spirit of trimming away the unnecessary things in my life to let the more important ones flourish, I'm unsubscribing from the Lists.

I've come to recognize that I no longer have anything to gain from being here, my views on tuning have become pretty settled and I no longer have any questions that anyone here can answer. I also have no interest in defending my ideas or approaches against those who don't share a common musical and logical reality with me, and I don't really have the time or energy to try to sway the undecided. I've realized that most of my exchanges in the last year or so can be boiled down to "is not", "is TOO!" and so on.

I don't begrudge anyone their beliefs, I just feel that my ability to be a constructive participant in the world of alternative tuning theory has waned. The only thing of value I have left to contribute is music, but that music needs to serve my muse, not as exposition of some theoretical ideas. As long as I've got one foot in the academic theory, I won't be able to let my tunings simply be tunings, which is really all they should ever be.

Good-bye and good luck. I suspect most of you know where you can find my music as it comes out, if you are so inclined.
