I didn't remember that an Euler Genus is the sum of CPS either and I've been a student of Wilsoniana for 40+ years.

When we first heard of Ravenstein's paper, which, IIRC, Larry Hanson found, I wrote Ravenstein and pointed out the musical applications, but he never replied. Perhaps Kraig, Terumi, Warren or Greg Schiemer could try to contact him, assuming he's still extant and at the U of Wollongong.
