RE: Yamaha EX5/EX7 synth/sampler correction

I just got off the phone with Yamaha technical support. The EX5/EX5R/EX7
support 32 preset scales selectable per layer. However, no user
programmable scales are available, and the operating system does not run off
of Flash ROM so there is no easy means to upgrade it. This crosses the
EX5/EX5R/EX7 off the list of most microtonal explorers.

A fellow named ... I think it was James McCartney ... partly connected
with UT Austin has.

I also know that Bill Meadows (I can get you his address if you'd like)
has used MAX a lot for various purposes. As I recall, Warren Burt has used
MAX a lot for algorithmic composition in unusual tunings.

My suggestion is to contact Georg Hajdu with any questions regarding Max
and microtonality. He is an expert programmer and composer who has done
many amazing and wonderful things in this regard:
