The text below I put together from 2 postings to the harpsichord
list. I have taken a look at this spreadsheet and must say that it's
well done and provides extensive data.

I stand corrected now that you mention it: The picture shows the
distance to the hole at what they believe to be the break point toward the
head-joint side to much smaller than the distance between the two intact
holes. But the distance between what they postulate to be the foot-joint
end to the closest intact hole is, as you pointed out, is only slightly
smaller that between the two intact holes.
