Thanks for this interesting bit of info... I never knew
that there were still Mongols living in this part of the
world.

While the Hazara (note the spelling) are concentrated in
central Afghanistan, they now only make up 8.1% of the
population of that country.

95.9% of Hazara are Shi'ite Muslim, as opposed to the vast
majority of Sunni Muslims for the rest of the Afghan ethnic
groups. See <http://www.bethany.com/profiles/p_code/910.html>.

There are also links on that page to data on the Hazara
minorities living in Pakistan and Iran.

Joe, you do not take into account the vast amount of refugees of Hazara
outside of central Afghanistan (like Hazarajat in Pakistan). There are many
more there. And yes, the genocide did take its toll in population numbers.

Joe, how do you spell Wyschnegradsky or Vishnegradski or...

Hi Johnny,

I just got a letter from Siemen. Sounds like
you enjoyed a much-needed break from the New York
scenario.

???... I had written:

Perhaps my use of the word "minorities" under-implies the
"vast amount of refugees" in those countries, which was
not my intention, but the data is there on the webpage for
anyone to see.

Right -- that was my point in citing the 8.1% figure.
