Of course.

Exactly!

Also, it's the first believable good story I've heard
about post-war Afghanistan (not that I think it's worse
there now, just that I haven't heard much about it).

It is alarming that while tens of thousands of people suffer from hunger and poverty in the region, some `tender-hearted art-patrons` prioritize half a million dollar holographic shows instead of feeding the famished and cloth the homeless who struggle to the survive the ravages of war.

I think it's cool too! ... but was saddened to learn of
the destruction of the original statues by the Taliban.

But anyway, what i liked even more was the "Critical Mass"
post further down the page, about large groups of bicyclists
taking over city streets for a day! Now *that's* progress!

There was a monthly ride in NYC that ran in to a bit of trouble during the RNC.

It's a good way to piss people off. A few years ago, when I was still using
a cane, I was trying to get across town. Check out some friends playing
at a bar on W. 30th, on my way to another venue here comes bunch of people
on bikes. Who all thought it was great fun to run lights, hold up traffic and
keep people from crossing the street and getting on with their life.

I made my statement by acting like I was going to jam my cane into spokes.
I didn't do it, just a gesture. Bikers looked horrified. Cops laughed.

Imagine what happens when Critical Mass hits a bump in the road.

Didn't it actually start in SF? Or was it in NYC?

I imagine if the bump was big enough, there would be a few in Critical
Condition. Though I hope not...

The road cracks open and gives way?
