What's the cure for ignorance? Education? Propaganda? Advertising? All of the above?

If the problem is linguistic artificiality, and oversimplifying and over-generalizing, then the ongoing discussion is a good thing. At least, as it allows for more possibilities. Maybe less running roughshod over another's sensibilities?

Was it Lao Tsu (?) said, if you would feed their minds, you have to feed their bellies, first.

I'd put cruelty before ignorance as the cause most lamentable. What's the most likely effect of treating someone like they're stupid?
