Seems to me that music has it all: art, science, emotion, proportions,
engineering, measurements, sports/athletics, circuitry, programming,
left-brain, right-brain, crazy serial charts, crazy Erv Wilson or Joe
Monzo lattices, crying, laughing, orgasms, faked orgasms, foreplay,
comforting, attacking, brutality, violence, peace, disgust, beauty,
analretenctiveness, anarchy, messiness, neatness, etc. etc.

So yes, painters don't study half as much. Painting just isn't as cool.

To say that music is different from science is like saying that fruit is
different from an apple.

I will agree that music is a broad as you state it is, but find science participation and contribution ( which is large) the in the same light that the science of perspective contributes to painting.
One can separate music from science, but you cannot separated it from art.
But to defer to the spirit of your post, i can acknowledge that there is no such thing as separate existence
