Waits sues over sound-alike

One of my main inspirational people on the planet, Tom Waits, decided
he didn't like people ripping off his voice:

http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/15/tomwaits.gm.lawsuit.ap/index.html

But what I liked best was this quote from him in the article:

"Apparently the highest compliment our culture grants artists nowadays
is to be in an ad -- ideally naked and purring on the hood of a new
car. I have adamantly and repeatedly refused this dubious honor,"
Waits said in a statement. "While the court can't make me active in
radio, I am asking it to make me radioactive to advertisers."

Cheers,
Jon

Right, Kraig, I understand that. But if you read the article, you'll
see that the ad agency courted him for a long time, attempting to get
him to do a piece for them. After he refused (I guess on equally many
occasions) they decided to (in his opinion) simply go out and find
someone to mimic him. It is in this light, where it is clear that if
they couldn't get his 'voice' that they would just rip him off, that
the pissed-offedness comes in.

Cheers,
Jon
