The BBC is trying to record all the church
bells in England. You can hear the latest
broadcast here...

Hey, Carl, thanks for that! Always have been fascinated by bells of
all manner. Did you ever hear the one-hour special called "The Bells"
that Karl Haas used to play every year? I also have an old cassette of
a radio-documentary, very evocative, entitled "The Bells of Europe".
It was sent to me by a friend years ago, and is really haunting,
tracing the history, including the melting of the bells for armament
in WWII. I could dub it if interested.

Anyhow, thanks for the linkage...

Cheers,
Jon

i am surprised no one hasn't come up with what tuning the bell pattern players really meant when they played their patterns:)

"It is easy for Blair to call yesterday's bombings "barbaric"' -- they
were -- but what were the civilian deaths of the Anglo American invasion of
Iraq in 2003, the children torn apart by cluster bombs, the innocent Iraqis
gunned down at American military checkpoints. When they die, it is
"collateral damage"; when "we" die it is "barbaric terrorism."
