Though I think the video game suggestion is a bit fanciful.
It's a richening of the entire environment, of which video
games are only a part, that causes the Flynn effect.
Probably the biggest single influence, I have thought since
I was a kid, is TV. Though bad in excess, and though
quick-takes are potentially harmful in other ways, exposure
to moving images and sounds, and to (a form of) theater, is
good for brains.
