salty ET

Messiean, a synaesthete who had such a vivid harmonic imagination, (and
I think a lot of his harmony is instinctively based upon clusters of
higher partials of the OT series), seemed to have no interest in
pursuing microtones.

But I guess it makes sense: if most people are happy just going through
life with only 12 pitch classes for their ears; then why would they want
more gradation just because that sense had been transposed to a new
domain?

Just because you can taste sounds, doesn't mean that you have more
discriminating tastes.

write a quartertone work, but it is really early in his oevre. His widow
preferred not to release it as she considered it immature. Maybe eventually we will
see what he was cogitatin'.

Maybe he wanted to leave room for others to explore, unlike some many of the post WW2 composers :-)

If you're not going to listen to music that's in tune,
check out the shit that's falling down the stairs.
