That's interesting that you think that. Lots of Haydn I've experienced I've
found to be quite daring (in terms of modulation) for its time.

You are correct in that he makes some daring ( in my memory abrupt Medient like modulation)
my problem to my ear is the successive movements being in similar or parallel keys. This lask of key variety is somewhat taxing on me.
of course i can listen to indian music on a drone without this problem . and even though they may play a few pieces against the same drone, mmore often than not they will choose quite varied raga scales in sucession. With Haydn once he stops ( at the end of a movement) i intuitively want a more drastic change. it is completely subjective. beethoven 7th with the 2nd movementy being in A minor as compared to the previous AMajor works because of it contant focus on e. It is the only instance i know of where a movement opens and ends with a 6/4 chord.
