Elmer Bernstein dead at 82

It seems to be a dangerous time for film composers. The Post article
mentions that his apartment was a total sty--the things one learns
from an obituary these days!

Bernstein did the over-the-top score for the Ten Commandments--Wa WAA,
wa wuh waa, wuh whuh wa WAAA! The he went off in a different
direction, with a jazzy score for The Man with the Golden Arm, a very
influential move--twenty years later Bernstein's much-admired Hermann
did Taxi Driver, for one example.
