Jerry Goldsmith no longer scoring fiilms...

One of the most inventive and professional of the Hollywood composers
of the last 30+ years, Jerry Goldsmith has passed away. He covered an
enormous range of musics and styles, and was never hesitant to try
something different to set a scene. I had the opportunity to work with
Goldsmith on a number of occasions, and he had huge ears and ability
to burn. May have been the last of his generation of scoring
composers, before the current crop of MIDI kids got on the scene, and
the skillsets he and his colleagues honed are retained by fewer and
fewer writers these days.

Gonna miss that one...

He did the theme for Startrek Voyager, which I think is a gorgeous bit of
orchestration.

Agree totally. I worked up a version for piano years
ago.
