Friends,

Here's a letter I wrote which The New York Times chose not to
print. I just thought they might appreciate input from an Indonesian-
speaking reader--but I guess not. Here's a link to the original article

To the Editor,

3Radical Islam Gains a Seductive New Voice,2 (Oct. 26 Week in Review)
does a
disservice to readers trying to understand why people around the world
think
of the U.S. as an ignorant, prejudiced, hegemonic bully. The caption
under
the photo in The Times refers to 3Muslims warming to the militant
ideology
known as political Islam,2 but the signs of the Indonesian protesters in
the
photo read, 3Islam Loves Peace?Islam is Anti-Terrorist,2 3Islam Rejects
Terrorism,2 and loosely translated, 3A Terrorrist is an Isolated
Individual,
Not a Follower of Islam.2 The great majority of Muslim people in
Indonesia
are moderate in their notions of the relationship between Islam and
politics. But when George Bush condemns Mahathir Mohamad1s comments
about
powerful Jews without condemning Pentagon official Lt. Gen. Boyken1s
comments about America1s enemy being Satan, and Islam1s inferior God, we

should not be surprised that Muslims are cynical about American motives.

Ha. Why waste your time on the Times? Just about everything
they print is a dis-service to readers. Though I suppose the
New York yuppies and cultural wannabees deserve it.

it illustrates the level of propaganda these rags are. They decide what the
news is and then find stuff that kind of supports it!
Washington if alive would be scouting out valley forge for the winter and
other places to hide before his push to regain the colonies
