San Diego concert...

Hi all,

This is just a brief notice for anyone in the San Diego area and vicinity, of a concert (this Tuesday) with a good purpose that I'm taking part in. It benefits a good group, it pays tribute to a wonderful man who has passed on (we met briefly, years ago, when he was my draft counselor in the Viet Nam debacle days), and his son is a gifted and sharing master shakuhachi player:

"East West Windows" - A concert with John Kaizan Neptune, shakuhachi; Mary Oda Szanto, cello; Reiko Obata, koto; and Jonathan Szanto, percussion. A benefit concert in honor of David W. Neptune for the Peace Resource Center. First Church of the Brethren, 3850 Westgate Place, San Diego. General admission: $15/ sliding scale; $7 children under 12. (Doors open at 6:30 pm.) For reservations and info., call 619-263-9301.

If you'd like to know more about Kaizan (who not only plays, but has lived in Japan over 20 years, making shakuhachis and other instruments from bamboo he grows himself):

And if you'd like a flyer/photos about the concert:

Peace to you all,
Jon

Wish you could have been there, too. Full house, good amount of money raised for a good organization in honor of a fine man, and the music making was *really* fun.

John Neptune comes through town a couple times a year, so I'm hoping we can join him for another concert, and I'll let you know.

Cheers,
Jon
