good news from Pakistan!

Well... not exactly *good* news, but *better* news.

From the New York Times today 9-28-01:

"In Jalalabad, for example, according to a witness's report relayed
to Islamabad today, the fear normally spread by one of the Taliban's
most repressive agencies, the religious police, has dissipated as
their offices have all but shut down. One consequence has been that
people have been playing music again, something proscribed, under
penalty of lashing or worse, after the Taliban took power."
