Hello
I joined this group a few days ago. I have been checking out various posts
since then. Please tell me seriously:

Are you just a group of intelligent people who kick each other in the balls
all of the time, or is this because of the WTC, which has imo led to a lot
of chat animosity?

If thing are going to change then I would like to participate, otherwise I
could do without the majority of well written insults.

Thanks!
Erik

Both but mostly the former.

I totally agree with Erik...less dissonance between listers.

Erik,

The metatuning list was set up for one purpose, and one purpose only:
to handle postings deemed 'off-topic' for the main tuning list, so
that the people and community that developed on that list would have
a place to continue a conversation/debate/rant without bothering the
list itself.

Recently, the level of dialogue (if it can be called that) has sunk
to new lows, but that isn't always the case. In any event, I'd only
suggest joining this group if there is a particular reason to follow
a thread. Otherwise, it simply functions as the place one refers to
when using the phrase "hey, would you two please take it outside?"...

Cheers,
Jon

Most of us are on friendly terms, but the WTC business has sharpened
some disagreements. You will find that the discussions are civil for
the most part with occasional outbreaks of hostility. I assume you are
interested in microtonal music.

Howdy. My name is John Starrett and I play 19 tet, 34 tet and justly
tuned music and write microtonal pop songs. How about you?

Erik,

Along the lines of John Starrett's self-introduction, and in an
effort to tip the scales away from vitriol, I came to this community
more than 5 years ago after having worked with Harry Partch and
performing his music with the San Diego-based Harry Partch Ensemble
since 1971. I am still active, managing the Harry Partch Foundation
Archives, and run the Partch website "Corporeal Meadows":

http://www.corporeal.com/

Additionally, I am a performing percussionist and composer. That's
me - who are you? :)

Cheers,
Jon
