For Paul, and jazz/math folks...

Paul,

I thought I'd just post this here: last week ex-San Diegan Rob Schneiderman blew through town, and he sounded just fabulous in a pno/gtr/bs/dr quartet. I chatted a bit with him and remembered his profound involvement with math and wondered if you've ever crossed paths back there (he's from Boston and now in NY). Anyhow, you might be interested in his Bio and Reflections pages on his jazz/personal site:

Cheers,
Jon

Along the Jazz orienrted music, i have in recent months gotten the entire catalog of the Necks
http://www.thenecks.com/default.htm
here is a rather complementry but i think not really on the button review of their best album in a way
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/jazz/reviews/necks_aether.shtml

Minimal beginnings that build to dramatic frenzies is almost universally the form of all their CDs . the thing is is that their is a great variety between the Cds. the last 4 Cd set that is the most recent release has 3 cds recorded within a 3 month period. i challage anyone to match this type of output.

cool! did you mention tuning/microtones to him? i haven't played a
lot of gigs with jazz pianists or showed up to a lot of math classes,
so maybe someone like gene would have a better chance of having run
into him . . . thanks for the heads-up, and glad you got to enjoy a
good jazz quartet!
