by 1975 i was convinced the whole thing couldn't possibly last much longer, but i sure hope Joe is right, even if we have to give a little shove to get it started ;)

I don't count on them being smart enough to think about things like this - I guess that is why I've become more active politically lately: things weren't going too well on 'hope' alone!

well, i figure that at least finally some day
all these assholes will die, and there are lots of
very cool younger people around who may be in a
position to take control.

i wish i didn't have to think that way, but it's
the only way of thinking that *gives* me hope.
but to see how quickly this administration undid
what had been gained after so much struggle is
really saddening.

I suspect it isn't people, but ideas that you hate.
Ideas which quite reliably spread to offspring,
unfortunatly. Bush et al enjoy tremendous political
power at the moment, and plenty of it is from the
under-30 crowd, which is too young to have supported
say, Vietnam.

Ready yourself for the next term. Maybe two or three
more, the way he's going. !8(|

yeah, you're probably right about that. in general,
as a compassionate and pacificistic person, it's
difficult for me to actually *hate* a person.
but ideas, yes, i have loathing for lots of them.

you make a very good point there.

yeah, that's what i see for America's future too,
unfortunately.

in my younger days this situation would have prompted
me to leave. i've been ready to live outside America
for a long time, but just never did it. now i'm
old enough that i'd prefer to try and amass some kind
of financial security before venturing off into a
foreign land. ... but if things keep going the way
they have for the last 3 years, my patience with it
will wear thinner and thinner, and off i go.

... anyone in France or Italy willing to sponsor my work?
if so, i'm yours for the taking.

Monz!

I've been thinking seriously about Bolivia.

I've heard that the higher mountain areas will expand your chest cavity, and that would make my gut look smaller. A friend said, too, that when you come down from there, you have tremendous stamina! Hoo!

I read in the encyclopedia that they have the strongest laws preserving the rights of their indigenous people, the Aymara people and the Qechua language...

I WISH I knew where to go, these guys are making me REALLY uncomfortable...and I'm not anywhere near &^%$#$@! Baghdad! Ow!
