In my opinion, too many recent postings to various listserves to
which I subscribe have had nothing at all to do with the purpose for
the list. A good example (but certainly not the only one I might
find) is

I don't mean to say that this is not a subject worth your time or
mine, but I think that this list is not the place to hold such
discussions. Please do others the courtesy of staying "on topic"
when posting to lists.

umm ... the reason why this particular list was created
was so that those of us who cyber-know each other from
the tuning list would have a forum where we could discuss
anything *not* having to do with tuning.

i don't think that would exclude Kraig's post.
essentially, anything other than tuning is on-topic
for this list.

I'll just amplify what Monz had to say: metatuning is a list *specifically for* posts that are off-topic from tuning.

The history behind this little mini-list is that off-topic posts on the tuning list were getting on peoples nerves, but some of the discussions *were* of interest to some of the members. The idea of the metatuning list was a place where people could 'take it outside' - continue a thread that had strayed from tuning, or people from the tuning community could, still as a group, discuss matters other than tuning in a forum (rather than private emails).

You could very easily drop this list from your subscriptions and *not* end up missing anything of tuning importance. However, this list does have a function in a community that has been around for a few years, and should remain as it is.

Cheers,
Jon

C'mon, Dave, that's a little over the top. I think Steve is a fairly new member to the various tuning lists, and the description at the top of meta is hardly a complete and accurate description of what its original intent was. I'm sure he's got the right idea now, however...

Cheers,
