A must-read about what's really going on in Israel.

thanks john. there is no question that the inhumanity being
perpetrated in this conflict is of the worst order of evil.

all armies, including that of the u.s., find, all too easily, masses
of young would-be criminals to "employ gainfully" the tendencies
toward violence.

couple this with a callous leader like barak and you have the makings
of an unspeakable crime against humanity.

neither it, nor the comparable actions occuring on the other side
(actually *in* israel), serve the interest of security, defense, or
peace with which they are sold to the people of the region and to the
world.

[now let's see how much time the media, or this list (monz excepted,
thank goodness for him) will devote to the dozens of other such
brutal conflicts occuring in the world. proportionately speaking.]

when i was in college, i was a member of a student group devoted to
improving israeli-palestinian relationships, comprising arabs and
jews (and a german faculty advisor). we often brought visitors (being
priveledged yalies with a budget) from the middle east, representing
human rights groups such as these:

the struggle of true peace-lovers in the region has been a difficult
one, but many bonds and bridges have been built, and i hope we can
all focus our energies on strengthening these bonds -- the human
impulse of loving one's neighbor is contagious. i'm off to spread
some of this love tonight in musical form. where? the middle east!
