Dante,

Well, so far, you're only the second person in my life that uses that particular term! I saw the article earlier today, and all I could think of was "Oh great! They're going to clone dicks, and I already work with a bunch of them!"

:)

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon-

My wife is from Manchester UK, I learned it from her: i believe its as
common term over there as "dick" is over here.

The movie title "The spy who shagged me" just sounds quaint to us, but its
acually a fairly rude word in the UK, almost like having a movie over here
called "The spy who fucked me". And over there you put you luggage in your
car's "boot", then lie down an have a "kip"....

...and all the other stuff. Right you are - I started having to get hip to all this when I began corresponding with Roger Merrick (British Harry Partch Society), Bob Gilmore, and Philip Blackburn a lot of years ago. My favorite resource is still:

"English slang and colloquialisms used in the United Kingdom"
http://www.peevish.co.uk/slang/frames.htm

BTW, I think it would be great if Joe Monzo's tuning dictionary could end up formatted like the above site...

Cheers,
Jon

Money is no object: simply look at the last date I updated Corporeal Meadows, and you'll see (to my current and ongoing chagrin) how much time I've had to muck around with web weaving!!!

That said, one night I took a stab at turning your site (which I had downloaded, into a frames orientation. If I still have it, I'll zip it up and send it to you as an attachment. You would need to do more work on it, but the basics of the frame navigation were in place...

Cheers,
Jon (who wasn't showing off, merely wanting to access the entries more 'directly')

thanks, Jon. i've been wanting to re-do my Dictionary
with a "frames" style for awhile ... but i've been on
a tuning "vacation" for several months, and now, even
tho i'm back on it, i'm extremely busy with regular work
and will have to steal the time to work on webpages.

i very much appreciate your helping out on this!
