After dreary news for months at last a ray of light bursts
forth! The greatest animated cartoon of all time (I mean the
1st 6 episodes done by John K, not the dreck that they did
with generic artists later) is being revived with its creator!
Hurray!

Ren & Stimpy Revived!

Happy, happy, joy, joy! The Ren and Stimpy Show is coming back
to TV!

TNN said Tuesday that it has tapped John Kricfalusi, creator
of the early '90s animated cult classic, to produce all new
adventures featuring the perpetually perturbed asthmatic
Chihuahua Ren and his gullible feline friend Stimpy.

...

"Ren & Stimpy was a revelation. Along with The Simpsons, it
was a major catalyst for the animation renaissance that
happened during the 1990s. ...," says Albie Hecht, president
of the Viacom-owned TNN.

I'm sure he did more than 6 original episodes during the
1st series. The article just says he's do 6 NEW shows.

Good news anyway! Gives me something else to
watch besides the news and the weather when I really
should be playing guitar.

As I remember it from years gone by, he had done the 1st 6
episodes but then got into some sort of artistic dispute and
so they ran those episodes over and over and over and over for
a year or so until they decided to fire him and hire others to
produce new episodes. So yes there were more than 6 episodes
of the original but only 6 of them (the good ones) were by
John K.

But I could be wrong.

What a great resource! Thanks.

I see now why there's confusion -- there were more than one
'episode' aired per show -- For example both Space Madness and
The Boy Who Called Rat first aired on August 25, 1991.

So maybe it's that there were 6 separate shows that John K.
did... I'll sort through those dates sometime if I have the
time.
