Okay, Jeff. In order to clear up any confusion

Who is absurd?

Who is obsessive?

Who is combative?

Who is a geek?

Who isn't really a musician?

Who are you directing that offensive word at?

Who is mentally ill?

What's "sad" about this realm attracting geeks or the mentally ill?
Aren't geeks and the mentally ill people too?

Who would rather argue about purity and detail than get down to real work?

Are you suggesting any connection between these absurd pathetic combative
types and those of us who post text and diagrams?

Graham

Nah, he's been stirring it up in rec.music.classical.contemporary
for years. But I can why you'd draw the comparison!

idealordid would read it.

Can't we all just get along? Seriously, the world needs both composers and theorists, just as it needs both mathematicians and engineers, AC and DC and so on. It even needs combative types and troublemaking stirrers. The important thing to remember is that we are all different aspects of the creative force, and all this is an illusion, the dance of Maya. No, wait, the important thing to remember is that we are all created in God's image, and that Jesus Christ is each of our own personal savior......, no, wait,..... the important thing is to get on with it! OK, I got it right that time. I am sure if Dan makes some new music we will hear about it somehow.

but if you "get along" with troublemakers, then they are no longer
troublemakers, and in your world, they are necessary, so best to not get
along with them so they can fulfill their mission?

Graham and all,

Public thanks to all of you for posting here instead of MMM or any other list. I was away most of the day or would have made the suggestion I just recently did, on MMM, to move here. I appreciate your consideration and all the rest.

As for Paul's comment about why not post it where he'd read it, I will write him offline to let him know the commentary is here, in case he wants to read it. I don't hazard a guess at this point...

Regards,
Jon (the increasingly reluctant ListMom of MMM)
