Another author Worth reading is Henri Corbin who was such an authority
he was made head of the Library in Tehran. Many of the things we perceive as
Islamic were in place before. Of Musical interest is "Cyclical Time In
Ismaili Gnosis."
He did points out how much of its own history sits on shelves that no one
looks at for hundred of years.
One Palestinian woman i knew said as much as she hated to wear veils in
some countries, she found that often men would treat you less as a sex
object in social situations, Here she found the exploitation on Billboards
as just as degrading as having to wear such things

I've found it again!

<http://www.nytimes.com/2002/03/02/arts/02ISLA.html>

You need a (free) registration, but I didn't get any popups or ad cookies
shoved at me. Not it's under "arts" -- I hope they aren't suggesting the
Koran might be a work of fiction ;)
