I was searching the web for something about this, when I
saw Eric Clapton's name mentioned and remembered a very interesting
story that he once told, regarding how LSD had a profound effect
on his music-making:

Clapton was performing with Derek and the Dominoes (of "Layla" fame)
in San Francisco in 1970, and he was tripping on acid at the gig.

He said that every time he played a "bad" blues riff and looked
out at the audience, they had all turned into devils, and every
time he played a "sweet" pretty riff, they all looked like angels.

His quote: "I decided that from then on I'd rather play for
angels than for devils". Every album he made after that has
featured a *much* softer style of music than the hard blues
that he used to play in the '60s.

And that's a true story, from the horse's mouth.
I found it in Robert Palmer's great book _Deep Blues_.

What a great story ... I recognized the baseball card
right away, because it used to be in my collection when
I was around 9 years old. The new psychedelic version,
at the bottom of the page, really made reading this worthwhile!
Thanks, Dante!

I wish he had kept playing for the devils. I'm glad Jimmy Page did.

Remember, I'm the spawn of Satan!!!
