Urantia wisdom

Here's a marvelous quote from the Urantia book, which, to me, sort of
sums up some of the problems we all are facing in the world
today...they're talking about the way Christianity has evolved, as
oposed to the way it was originally taught: "If Christianity could only
grasp more of Jesus' teachings, it could do so much more in helping
modern man to solve his new and increasingly complex problems.
Christianity suffers under a great handicap because it has become
identified in the minds of all the world as a part of the social system,
the industrial life, and the moral standards of Western civilization;
and thus has Christianity unwittingly seemed to sponsor a society which
staggers under the guilt of tolerating science without idealism,
politics without principles, wealth without work, pleasure without
restraint, knowledge without character, power without conscience, and
industry without morality." Well said...earlier in the same chapter, the
writer referred to how "Christianity exhibits a history of having
originated out of the unintended transformation of the religion of Jesus
into a religion about Jesus." Again, well put, and right on the money, I
believe. And, I further believe that, unless the world as a whole finds
true and eternal spiritual truths, and begins to actually live by them,
we are toast as a race. To kill and dominate in the name of "God," as
has happened often over the last few thousand years, has not worked, and
has only served to turn many people away from any serious spiritual
quest. The way Christianity has evolved in our culture is quite a
distance from the teaching Jesus brought (and, I daresay, other
religions have also been taken far from the intended message of the
founder). My prayer is always to find guidance and wisdom, for myself,
and the planet as a whole...I truly believe the current state of the
world is not what the Creator intended when humans were created. Here's
to hoping that we can turn things around soon, and move into a world of
true peace and understanding...Hstick
