It also worked for Stockhausen. His post-9/11 comment was in reference to
characters in his operas, which are apparently based (or stolen) from the
Uranta book.

As much as it seems Stockhausen has lifted quite a few concepts from other
people in the past, I think it's safe to say that he's just inspired in this
case.

I never made the connection.

Interesting Urantia should come up here; people interested in the Urantia book just went through a legal battle with the Urantia Foundation, and I am involved in something similar, only with A Course in Miracles and the Foundation for A Course in Miracles.

That sounds interesting: ive never read urantia, but i spent a fair amount
of time years ago on ACIM. Does this have something to do with the
publishing rights?

Mostly it has to do with my desire to allow people to use the orignal version, and not the published one, which I've shown in detail has serious problems. I had a web page up showing that until FACIM's lawyers fored it to be taken down, but if there is ever going to be serious scholarly work on it, the basis for it must be the original text. I'd also like people to have the freedom to put the parts of it (about half) which are in blank verse into verse form, rather than leaving it as prose.

do you have access to the original typescripts? I didn't realize the
published version was edited. Too bad about your website: I would have been
interested to see that.

A year ago a version edited by Bill Thetford surfaced, with a lot of extra material. I am the titular head of something called the Course in Miracles Society, which published it after an intellectual property attorney we retained told us it appeared to be in the public domain. This put CIMS into a win-win situation--either we would not be sued, in which case we could publish this version, or we would be, in which case we would have a legal right to examine and copy the original transcripts, and Helen Schucman's notebooks, which had copies held in the US copyright office.

It did not however give us the legal right to make them publically available. However, the New Christian Church of Full Endeavor, which had obtained, and subsequently leaked, the Bill Thetford version, also got a copy by the same method, after hearing of our plan. By a strange coincidence (which I put in that way since nothing is proven) this was leaked also, by someone or other.

Various Yahoo groups might interest you re this--such as Experience_ACIM_Urtext_Epistemology (don't blame me for that name!), or JCIM, or CIMWORKS.
