san diego fires ... again

There are huge and very fast-spreading wildfires
burning in Southern California again.

I've heard that the conditions now are the
driest they have ever been since recording began
130 years ago, and these fires have spread very fast.

It being said that as these fires merge together
the potential is for the resulting firestorm to be
larger than that of 2003.

Leaving the highways free for the travel of those
being evacuated (including some of my students),
i'm home from work today ...

guess with all those natatiaonal guard people in Iraq, can't call on them to help!

You got that right. Also note that Bush today asked
Congress for another $46 billion for the war. It would
be pretty easy to put these fires out with that money
... firefighters from all over the USA could be paid
well to come here.

I expect to be OK. The place where i live now is
very close to downtown, and the fire likes dried
vegetation much more than concrete.
