Second that. The more I see of the Bush administration's agenda the
scarier it gets.

Also agreed. I bet there are more than a handful of them that just
wish bin Laden would get in a taxi and take a drive...

I saw a rerun of an old "Saturday Night Live" the other night.
It opened with Dana Carvey doing an imitation of George Bush,
speaking about the details of the "New World Order" that would
be put in place if he were elected president.

Well... I didn't realize until much later that this episode was
made in 1987, while Reagan was president! I thought at first that
Carvey was imitating George *Dubya* Bush from last year, while
Clinton was still president. It wasn't until nearly the end of
the sketch, upon mentioning that he'd allow himself to take other
wives in addition to Barbara, that I realized that Bush *senior*
was the object of ridicule.

But the *really* scary thing, and the reason why I'm posting
about it here, is how incredibly relevant Carvey's satire was
to what's actually happening now. Does anyone else remember
that episode of SNL, or did anyone else happen to catch the rerun?

From that article:

>> Perle's Defense Policy Board also sent Bush a letter
>> recommending all measures be taken to install the heretofore
>> dubious and ineffectual Iraqi National Congress of
>> Ahmed Chalabi as new leadership in Baghdad, backed by
>> the deployment of American troops to secure Iraqi oil fields.

At least someone in the administration is finally being honest
about what this is really all about.

love / peace / harmony ...

1. They ARE father and son. Presidents too.

2. You really couldn't tell which GB he was supposed to be? GWB doesn't
talk like that!

Well, I didn't really pick up so much on the *sound* of the impersonation,
because my attention was focused on the relevance of what he was saying,
to our current situation.

Parts of it seemed a bit incongruous, but mostly I just couldn't believe
how far Carvey (and/or the writers) was pushing the satire... until
I realized how old it was and that it really referred to Bush senior.

The fact that they're father and son is one of the main reasons I
didn't vote for W last year... I didn't *expect* him to be much
different, and of course, he's not.
