Hey Ozan (was: socio-political, etc.)

Hi Ozan,

I don't want to 'tease' you, I was actually part wondering how
appropriate it is to throw in that little advertisement for your
particular religious views (I suppose however, if you take a solemn
vow to convert the 'infidel', one would seek every oppurtunity, just
like X-tians do), and partly honestly wondering what you could have
meant, I guess...

Perhaps we shouldn't take this conversation too far, we know where it
leads, and what's the point? I'm a born-again non-believer in anything
except the flying spaghetti monster, you are a devout muslim...let's
just enjoy the peace. I take it back!

By the way, Ozan, I've been meaning to tell you something you may or
may not already know about tuning hammer technique---from when you
said you had back pain from tuning. You ought to consider a trick, if
you hadn't already: move the bench with you up and down the keyboard
so you aren't reaching too far.

Secondly---when you are going for extremely close gradations of cents,
don't TURN the tuning pin; rather, push up and down slightly on the
far end of the hammer (where it bulges in your hand, i.e. the handle
part)---this gives more control of small changes.

Also, always tune a note slightly sharp of your goal, and pound the
key as loudly as you can---this distributes the tension over the
bridge, and evenly so over the length of the string, while of course
pulling slightly flat at the same time.

If you found yourself going back over and over notes that fell out of
tune constantly, not doing these things would be why! Hope that helps!

-A.
