I came across this. I don't know if anyone has it or
has something better. (sort of thinking about trying it)

What does it say about me that the "long tail" isn't long enough?

Don't understand.

Sorry, I flub more jokes than most. The "long tail" is an economics
theory, essentially because the internet reduces overhead so much,
online music stores can stock obscure music, and the bottom 75% brings
in the same amount of revenue as the top 25% of their stock. But
looking at this music service, I can see that I will have a hard time
finding music that I like, which is true of most pay music services,
whether download or CD based.

I just signed up (no credit card required) for the free
14 day free trial. Unlimited downloads. Give me some artists
and I'll see if they have them. It looks like 141 songs are
available from Naked City if this is encouraging to you.
(This is just an example, that Kevin mentioned.)

That is encouraging. The front page was so mainstreamed that it was
really discouraging, especially since it was sponsored by MTV, and
there was no avant section.

Chris Butler
FCS North
Absurd Minds
Chris Carpenter (can't even find him on Soulseek)
John Butcher (especially Contest of Pleasures)
Toshimaru Nakamura

All pretty hard to find. Except for Carpenter, who I have only read
about, they are some of my favorite musicians. If they have this (and
I also find it discouraging that you can't preview their catalog) then
I will probably sign up.

John Butcher/Phil Durrant (Classical) NO
Toshimaru Nakamura NO

A mixed bag. They also don't have some artists I checked out.
Initially I happened to have picked some out they did have.
I assumed they had everybody.

I won't be doing it myself anyway I guess. They don't take
money orders. Only plastic and I don't have a card.

The 14 day free trial does NOT require plastic.

Maybe I'll get a debit card.
