After years of paying the rent by selling tshirts, CBGBs closes. That whole
neighborhood has been changing for a while, Brooklyn is the new East Village.
And it's too much trouble to get there. Whatever.

birthplace of some angry young punks go by the wayside and all that.
Never been there, and I hope there are other dangerous music places
that are happening somewhere in NY. If not, the planet is doomed.

Cheers,
Jon

Tonic and the Knitting Factory started booking mostly rock bands a few years ago.
The Continental (up the street from CBGBs) stopped booking bands because
nobody was coming to shows.

I worry more about new music venues in Manhattan, it's always been tough to
find a place to play.
