"Alpha/theta neurofeedback has been shown to be successful both in
treating addictions and in enhancing artistry in music students."

"These findings suggest that, whilst 9 sessions of alpha/theta
neurofeedback was insufficient to change personality, improvements in
mood may provide a partial explanation for the efficacy of alpha/theta
neurofeedback."

This is off-topic for MMM. I don't believe it is off-topic here.

I find all this very intersting:

from my understanding, the process is called "entrainment"... its
the idea that when two osciallating entities are in the same
environment they will eventually begin to oscialliate in sync with
each other... by having sounds pan in a certain way, your brainwaves
will go in sync with the panning sounds, matching the cycles of the
panning sounds... this can reduce the brainwave cycles, producing
the alpha, theta, or delta brainwaves (to whatever preference you
desire)

an artist called mystical sun (http://www.mysticalsun.com) has a
song called "journey to samadhi" which uses this technique...

If anyone ever gets into any of this stuff or downloads
"journey to samadhi" let me know (use headphones). I tried to
find a clip of the song but have not as yet.
