Had a 9-pound baby boy delivered at 10:30am,
right in our apartment. Everything went perfectly,
and he's totally mellow.

Thanks Dante! It isn't official yet, but we've basically
decided on Adric. Wolfgang is currently the pick of
middle names, but we're not crazy about the AWL initials.

Our midwife tells us that Jesus is a Greek name, and that
Jesus' name was actually Joshua. We like this name, but
it's too common for Mom's taste (her name is Denali).

Many names out there mean something. I couldn't find the
meaning of 'Adric' though.

It's actually a character in the TV show Dr. Who. The
writers of the show got the name as an anagram of Dirac,
the famous physicist.

However, my mom looked in a name book that claimed Adrik
is the Russian form of Adrian, and that Adric is an
alternate spelling.

It was probably pronounced more like Jeshua or Yeshua at the time.

I suspect it means they are both Dr. Who fans. It's great to see
someone out there who like Adric, whom a lot of fans seem to like to
dump on.

Hi Carl,

Congratulations to you, Denali, and Adric!

Hmm, Christmas birthdays seem popular with the
microtonal crowd ... my Tonalsoft partner Chris
was also born on Christmas Day.

... so i wonder if Jesus/Joshua/Jeshua/Yeshua
was a microtonalist?

;-)

... actually, December 25 was chosen as the celebration
date for Christmas in the Roman Empire in 336 AD, to
oppose the pagan winter solstice feast. From the
available data, it seems likely that Jesus was actually
born around the end of September, during the Jewish month
of Tishri.

this would explain why there is only 17 days between mary shackin up with the HG till when the little critter pops out.
joseph gets the bill too!. this would put my guess at Sept 3 or 11th if a bit late
