I always like how influenced the middle age sculpture was by the greeks.
they loved the purity of the white marble form.
Only later did we discover the greeks used to paint them!

the thing is under the shah , the traditional musician had been forced to work as street performers. It was discouraged as much as these jokers are doing. at least under khommani they were allowed to teach in the university. ( not that they necessarily shared his politics )views). But the traditional musican though was not allowed to partake of harmony and counterpoint in any form, while they have been trying to get around this by showing how these things in different cultures as close as their neighbors in a varied but useful form.

i am sure such a law might bring his own downfall, which would be more effective than forcing its people to rally around a leader that is not as popular as he thinks

In Anaphoria , while not banned politically, a phychological ban exist culturally within the people who associate such music from the time before the Great Missionary Expulsion.

Such acts enable music to develop independently
