Johnny's Odysseus

I listened to J. Reinhard's "Odysseus" CD. Very well done, I thought.
Though it did seem like (in the manner of Partch, perhaps) one would want
to see all of the on=stage action to get the full effect. But that's a
good thing: I've always thought that the Rite of Spring is a bad ballet
score, because it doesn't leave any room for the dance, so to speak.
This piece was, I assume, part of a more well-integrated multimedia
experience.

Anyways, one of the musical highlights for me, on this first listening,
was the totally gorgeous soprano singing by, among others, Meredith
borden, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the last AFMM concert in
NYC. I haven't heard such beautiful, sensuous vocal work in that vein
since the recording of Boulez's "Visage Nuptial".

Anyway, it's a lovely piece, filled with humor and vibrant color.
