Check out "Numerology". I think this concludes my metal binge for now,
time to explore some of the other facets of 22. The more I play with
it, the more I feel like this is the tuning I've been unwittingly
searching for all my life...

Enjoy!

That's screams. It's great metal. I don't like it quite as much
as the previous tune because it's more just metal, but I
certainly appreciate it for that.

Hee hee...yeah, I guess this one did turn out quite a bit more metal
than my last one. I wonder how that happened? Maybe because I relied
more heavily on dissonant/overtly microtonal intervals and scales? I
mean the first half of the song is almost entirely in Orwell-9, a scale
in which only two chords have perfect fifths, and after that I relied a
lot on the 4:6:7 and 5:6:7 chords from a symmtetrical decatonic scale.
With my previous piece ("revenge...") there were very few overtly
microtonal passages...save for the intro and breakdown, the casual
listener probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Oh, and I almost forgot: for the drums I use the PlugSound line of VST
plugins in Cubase SL. I give each section of the virtual drum set its
own track so I can have better mixing control.

Peace!

I dunno... they both seem about the same in terms of in-the-face
microtonality to me.

Good work! And thanks for remembering. Did you use a keyboard
controller?

Nope, I did it the easy way: Cubase's drum sequence editor.

One of these days I've got to try these songs out on some "casual"
listeners, without telling them there's anything "weird" about them...I
wonder how many will notice?

great stuff again! major props from me.

i love Led Zep, and enjoy other heavy metal here and there,
but i can't really say that i'm a fan, since i don't know
a lot of what's happened in the genre since c.1990. your
tunes sound great, and the 22-edo twist is real nice.

i'm looking forward to the "other facets" you explore!
keep up the good work!

PS -- if you'd like to divulge some of the technical
aspects of the harmony of your work, feel free to post
something about it on the tuning list or even on
tuning-math if it gets that deep. i'd like to know
more about that ... maybe in a spare moment (should
one arise) i could make a webpage about some of your work.

give us some details about the subset scales your
picking out of 22. include timings from the mp3s.
any score or musical examples?

I tasted the 2nd track, and it was good.
