I dream of a Chicago microtonal festival....

Hey y'all-

I have an acquaintance who is opening an art gallery. I haven't yet seen the
space, it's on the South Side of Chicago, I think near U. of C. most likely.
He was interested in having me curate some kind of musical happening(s).
Guess what I thought of?

So my dream would be a weekend of bringing together people from all over the
U.S. (maybe elsewhere?) to Chicago for a microtonal
performances/workshops/summit. A mini-festival. Maybe write a grant to get
some money together to pay people to come out. It's still in embryo right
now, but I wanted to let you guys know what I'm dreaming about......

Best,

Aaron,

I live in Northwest Indiana....
I go to Chicago whenever I play
a gig there or I get the chance
to go! That would be cool to have
a microtoanl fest in Chicago!!

Joel-

Where do you live--near the dunes? It's great to know that there are
microtonally-interested people active on this list in the midwest! Do you
compose/improvise any microtonal music? What instrument(s) do you play?

unbelievably busy ... the whole Encyclopedia has to be
converted to our new website format ... and it has
over 700 webpages in it!

it's going to take me a couple of months to do that,
so i'll still be quiet regarding tuning lists until
after that.

i had a piano gig at the riverboat casino in Joliet, and
on the day i had to fly back home i went early to The Loop
and hung out in Chicago.

Hi Monz,

We've missed you!

Also, you're taking a math class, aren't you? How's that going?

Anyway, I hope the new format is going to be easier to edit -- if
you've looked at my new paper yet, you'll see that there are some
terminological issues that should be sorted out ("linear
temperament", "aristoxenean", etc). Only when you have time, of
course. Shoot me an e-mail.

Best,
Paul

i took Intermediate Algebra last semester and totally aced it
... i still haven't seen my grade, but i know i got something
like 96 or 97 (out of 100).

i was really psyched up to hammer out the trig and calculus
courses so that i could get to linear algebra ... but i had
to put school on the shelf for the time being ... way too
much work to do for Tonalsoft right now. we *will* have
a software product out for sale this year, no more rescheduling.
(target release date is around August)

ok, sure. as i said, the process of simply converting the
Encyclopedia to the new format is going to take at least
two months. can't do any further editing until that's complete.
