root position triads on generalized scalatron

Hi George,

I've asked you this before, but I can't find the
answer in my e-mail log: how do you finger major
and minor triads in root position on your
scalatron (LH and RH)?

Thanks,

-Carl

It depends on the tuning. If the key for the 3rd of the chord is not
displaced very much in the y-direction, or if it is located in the +y
direction, then:

RH: 1-3-5
LH: 5-3-1

If the 3rd of the chord is located some distance in the -y direction,
then:

RH: 2-1-5
LH: 5-1-2
(by crossing the thumb under the index finger)

Sorry, I should have said I'm curious about the
image I have from you here, which is 31-tET.

I assume 31-tET's minor triads qualify here?

Thanks!

Those can be done either way, but I usually play them without
crossing the thumb under.

So 1-3-5 (and 5-3-1), curling the 3 and playing Eb with your
knuckle?

No, curing the 3 and playing Eb with the fingertip. Not much curing
required, really, since Eb is only -3 positions along the sequence of
fifth-generators from C.

Thanks. Got it.
