Hi,

I'm a newbie here. I would like to be able to play some simple songs
in some unusual tunings.

I have discovered and downloaded Scala. I'm still playing with it,
working through the help file. Will it be able to record the melodies
and chords that I make up? Is there some other program that I should
use instead? Can I really make up music without buying a MIDI
keyboard?

Thanks

Scala is able to take a score file and turn it into a midi file;
another program you might want is Fractal Tune Smithy.

Easily, if you can translate your chords and melodies to a .seq file
score.
