Paul and all;

This is worth checking out if you're looking
into buying a computer...

Hey, that small format box is just like the one I built for myself. I'll take a pic and post it somewhere...

Cheers,
Jon

I inquired about this a few months ago and was sent here for an
alternative choice:

http://dawbox.com/

They make essentially the same thing while charging less.

Whoops -- no DVI connector (on their main model)...

Not a whole lot of info on their website.

One might be advised to just buy a Shuttle.

The main hook the MusicXPC people use to sell their product is "we
tweak the XPC for music", to presumably save you, the busy musician,
the effort and headaches of optimizing your machine yourself. Dawbox
does the same thing but charges less. Most of what I know about them
was gleaned from PC audio forums, where Dawbox has some presence,
along with other small PC DAW makers.

If you are more of the tweaker type and want to build your own
Shuttle XPC, I've heard lots of good things about newegg.com as a
source of XPC supplies.

Oh, and a review from Washington Post:

Most I got out of that is that they turn off un-needed services.
Which is very important for any Windows installation, not just
music.

Shuttle now sells completed systems also.

Yep. But tweakers seem to prefer newegg.com if they want to build
their own. Maybe Newegg's parts/supplies pricing is better - I'm not
sure.
