List,

Interesting developments over at the forum dedicated to Crystal, a very nice *freeware* VST synth:

-------------
POLL QUESTION: Would you like to see full keyboard microtuning implemented in a future update of Crystal, where every midi key can be retuned to any desired pitches?

CHOICES AND RESULTS
- I would like to have full keyboard microtuning in Crystal., 16 votes, 53.33%
- I'm indifferent about microtuning in Crystal., 7 votes, 23.33%
- What is microtuning/microtonality?, 2 votes, 6.67%
- I like comb-filters., 5 votes, 16.67%

-------------
To which Glenn Olander, the developer, replied:

Ok. Message received :-). And, I'll look into those comb filters tool!

- Glenn

It is happening more and more. In this case, kudos to Philippe for working on this, as well as past input from Jacky Ligon and X. J. Scott. There's another guy over in the Crystal users that has put in good words as well.

I'll have more news on related items as time permits. I think I've also decided "I've had enough, I can't eat another bite" - IOW, I'm going to stop downloading new VSTs and concentrate on working with my setup as it is now. Really, I have enough that there isn't any reason I couldn't be making music instead of downloading, testing, tweaking, posting, etc.

Gotta get my priorities straight.

Cheers,
Jon

I'm interested by this news as well. This is a powerful synth whose
feature set seems very similar to the much more expensive Absynth -
it can do granular synthesis, wave sequencing, and FM in addition to
virtual analog.

Hopefully by the time Glenn releases a tunable version of Crystal, I
will have had a better handle on my Emu XL-7, which currently only
has 2-3 little 19-tone sequences that I programmed.
